About FoodTourTrails

Hi, I’m Vaggelis — the traveller, eater and writer behind FoodTourTrails.

This whole project started with a simple frustration. Every time I landed in a new city, I’d waste the first day or two eating mediocre meals near the main square before I finally stumbled onto the places locals actually go. The little bakery down a side street. The market stall with a queue of regulars. The family taverna with no English menu and the best food in town. By the time I found them, I was often already leaving.

FoodTourTrails exists so you don’t have to lose those days. It’s the guide I wish I’d had — honest, local and focused entirely on one thing: helping you eat well, fast, wherever you are.

What you’ll find here

Detailed food guides for more than 240 cities around the world. For each one we cover the dishes you can’t leave without trying, the neighbourhoods worth wandering hungry, the markets locals shop at, and the best ways to experience it all — whether that’s a guided food tour or a self-guided crawl on foot.

How we make our guides

Every guide is researched from local sources, traveller reviews and on-the-ground knowledge, then written to be genuinely useful rather than just another list of restaurants. We focus on the food culture of a place — what makes it special, when to go, and how to find the real thing instead of the tourist version.

How we stay free

We keep FoodTourTrails completely free by partnering with trusted booking platforms like Viator and GetYourGuide. When you book a tour through our links we earn a small commission, at no extra cost to you. It never influences what we recommend — you can read exactly how that works on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
